
Beneath the shelter of a quilted sky, the gurgle and slurp of lively springs too deep for hearing the reach and stir of buried roots too slow for knowing, Earth rests. but ever moving, forever changing, and sure as death, the turning comes when heat unlocks the ground, and hidden leaves awake to the clarion cry of the sun as souls, the trumpet.
BIO: Sherry Poff is an active member of the Chattanooga Writers’ Guild in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her writing is based on growing up in the heart of Appalachia, teaching multitudes of students at all levels, and going on many adventures with friends and family. Sherry has an MA in Writing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has several poems and nonfiction pieces published both on line and in print.
