Moments by Fabrice Poussin
Illustration by Sue Babcock

The image is uncertain;
a puzzle of fragments,
a kaleidoscope of moments,
most warm, others cold with death.
Death wins,
a landscape of faults,
fissures, crannies,
and nothing grows
anymore;
a desert where once
smiles, and a destiny lived.
Now seeds cry in agony;
it is time to continue;
leaving behind a cloudy landscape,
undefined, like a ghost of solid,
cracking parchment.
The page is burnt
in the arid plain of a desert.
The book has come to pieces,
it crumbles upon the approach
of the guilty touch.
Time does not stick
as the forgotten rags
softly fall to the ground,
and vanish
with a last tear,
a faint cry.
Then…
Nothing.
