Introduction to Issue 50 Fiction by Edwin Riddell

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Welcome to the 50th edition of Liquid Imagination! Once again, the number of stories submitted exceeds previous records, while the quality and variety remain enviable.

I must apologise to contributors who have requested individual appraisals of their work. With limited resources, this is well-nigh impossible, I’m afraid. It already takes a very considerable amount of time and effort in reading, re-reading and assessing the sheer amount pf material – and I would hope contributors will agree that this is where our editorial effort should be directed.

“You can make anything by writing.” said CS Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia amongst other works. Surely as good a creed as any for those who ply their craft in genres such as speculative fiction, fantasy and SF. As far as consumers of fiction are concerned, Lewis also maintained that “we read to know we are not alone.” He was a firm believer in the idea that you can’t grow as a writer without being a reader.

With that in mind, may I wish all contributors and readers a very happy and productive new year.
